Picky Eater Breakfast Questions

What can I make a picky eater for breakfast?

Start with familiar formats: pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, yogurt parfaits, smoothies and breakfast quesadillas. Once those are accepted, small changes like a new fruit topping or a hidden veggie version of the same dish are an easier ask than a brand new food.

What is a good breakfast for a picky eater who does not like eggs?

Overnight oats, chia pudding, smoothie bowls, yogurt parfaits and pancakes made with an egg replacer are good places to start. Check each recipe's allergen list, since many baked goods, like muffins and oatmeal cups, include egg.

How can I add vegetables to breakfast?

Blend them into foods that already have color and texture to hide them: pumpkin or sweet potato in pancakes and oatmeal, beets or spinach in smoothies, and grated carrot or zucchini in muffins and quesadillas.

Is it okay if my kid eats the same breakfast every day?

Many kids go through phases of wanting the same breakfast. If it is a balanced option and they are growing well, it is common. You can rotate small variations, like a different fruit on top, and talk to your pediatrician if you are worried about how few foods they accept.

What can I make for breakfast if my kid cannot have eggs or dairy?

Oatmeal made with water or oat milk, smoothie bowls, chia pudding, crispy breakfast potatoes and pancakes made with a flax egg and plant milk all work. The three recipes in the no egg, no dairy section above contain none of the top 9 allergens in the base recipe.
